Good day
SACAS has unfortunately lost entrance to Kwaggahoek Dam due to the owners’ son negotiating with a sindicate owner for a much higher monthly access fee to be paid without the knowledge of the Director of SACAS.
Background-
The Director of SACAS put some pressure on the owners’ son (as contact person) the past few months as SACAS was paying a monthly fee to Pro-Plum Organics but we were still not allowed to get the venue up and running to its full glory again due to problems between the owner and Landbank. As a result the venue deteriorated furher over time, hippos and crocs entered the dam, power to the farm was cut resulting to no lighting or hot showers; nor fresh water for showers and toilets. We were requested by the owner not to place a full-time employee at the dam to clean as all other farm workers were retrenched and he would experience trouble from those workers if they observed an unknown employee there.
Our members started to visit the dam less due to the constant deterioration of facilities, safety concerns and nearby farm workers fishing at the dam without permission. Reports of people entering the camps at night was also received lately.
All the problems experienced at the dam and the declining support from the owner resulted that our members became frustrated although I tried to keep them up to date on a Whatsapp group. The financial problems on the farm was initially communicated to the SACAS Director as being short lived and that investors from overseas would buy into the business and that the farm would be viable to do business again. This unfortunately have not happened yet and it is really sad to see the farm and fruit trees detriorating every month. It surely has been burnt into the minds of all of us who visited the dam frequently.
What now?
We are currently in the process of looking for a new committed venue for our members to establish and to also negotiate with venue owners for access to public venues that have adopted our angling rules.
The Director of SACAS is kindly requesting all valued members to bare with SACAS during this difficult time whilst he is trying to source another commited venue with the assistance of members.
Please contact the Director of SACAS personally at 083-789 9082 if you are able to assist with a dam that can be developed into a big Carp venue.
Yours sincerely.
Goeie dag
Vriendelike groete.
